I’ve previously written a little bit about some pros and cons with Affiliate Marketing as a business model and as a means to make money online.
As someone very new to this world I’m constantly reading blogs, checking forums and trying to get a grasp of how viable the business model in itself is.
Some say affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make money online, others go as far and say it’s the worst way to make money online.
While reading a ton of blogs yesterday I came across a very intriguing (to say the least) blog post called “How I successfully trolled myself out of Google and destroyed my entire affiliate business“.
Basically this guy, Sebastian, got involved in some kind of black hat shenanigans (the post doesn’t really describe the method he used) and ranked a bunch of joke-inspired animal sites for the top positions for some very competitive Swedish keywords related to the financial niche.
Eventually a competitor decided he had enough, got in touch with Matt Cutts and eventually Google’s Spam Team got involved and wiped Sebastian’s entire network of sites.
This goes to show how easy it is to lose everything you’ve built in a very short amount of time.
By the looks of it Sebastian hasn’t given up though, and he’s apparently working on a new affiliate project called Smartlend (which I’m guessing is targeting the same niches as he did before?).
In his blog post he also links to this new project with the keywords “låna pengar” and “smslån” and I’m guessing these are the top keywords he’s trying to target.
Since I’m new to Internet Marketing I’d like to help out whenever possible – that’s why I included the links above.
Sebastian: if you happen to stumble upon this blog post and don’t want the links – please contact me ASAP and I’ll remove them directly!
Otherwise I hope you like the links and that they help you out somehow :).
